We believe that small freshwater shoaling species are best suited to aquaria. Whilst the majority of tropical fish available in the UK are bred and farmed overseas, there remains a significant proportion that are collected from the wild. Wild collection has potential risk to biodiversity in the natural habitat as well as unnecessary disease risk for your aquarium. Almost all the fish you see today have been flown to the UK (both wild and farmed). These air miles are as important for the fish as they are for our food. Sadly these air miles will also be contributing to climate impacts and pollution that also further drive biodiversity loss.
We produce premium-quality fish in the UK, using established broodstock, renewable energy (solar), and carefully managing water quality and quantity. We aim to offer an ethically better alternative while protecting the environment and conserving natural resources. We use a science based approach to support the fishes welfare appropriate to the species, and house sympatric species together that aids a more natural enrichment.
While the Our Shoal name might be fun we are serious about making a difference and to make some of the most beautiful and diverse species available using the best environmental standards and do right by the fish.
